The Failsafe Gadget is a simple stereo A/B switch. Normally, the main source is (A) sent to the output. An advanced sensor continuously monitors the main source. If silence is detected, the backup (B) source to the output switched. The user can select whether the unit returns to the main source when the sound returns, or remains on backup until manually switched.
Connect your studio to the main input and send the output to your transmission system.
Backup audio sources can be a second computer, a loop CD player, even an iPod playing a playlist.
In addition to audio switching, a logic output of the Failsafe Gadget can activate a device or alarm upon detection of silence. Logic inputs are provided to control the switchover remotely.
A recessed rotary switch allows you to set the threshold of the silence sensors.
Another rotary switch gives you control over the duration of silence before the sensor takes action.
This way you can set the threshold and delay that normal pauses and silent passages do not trigger the sensor.
You can also use the Failsafe Gadget in reverse; Perhaps you have a resource that should automatically come on the air when it appears. Simple. Enter your regular programming on the B input and this source on the A input. Place the recovery switch in the A<>B position and now, when there is audio on your source, it will override your regular programming. Set the timer for a short delay and when the source becomes silent again, your programming will resume.
Angry Audio’s Failsafe Gadget comes with three XLR StudioHub Adapters and a DB15 to RJ45 Adapter for the Logic port.
