The Orban OPTIMOD-FM 5500i offers two- and five-band processing in a 1HE rack unit at a very affordable price. Everything in this processor is about getting great sound quality, regardless of format or source. The extreme versatility of the 5500i allows you to customize your timbre knowing that your sound quality will remain optimal. Of course, the Orban 5500i can also be used as a stereo encoder. Ideal, for example, when you need processing on multiple sites to correct the possible “overshoots” caused by the STL.
The 5500i comes with a dynamic RDS/RBDS encoder at no extra charge and can be controlled via the front panel and via an ASCII server that. linked to your radio automation, can display title and artist. The Orban 5500i has a 10 MHz reference input that allows the pilot tone to be locked to GPS or another high-quality frequency standard. This promotes the performance of frequencies in areas that overlap.
With the 5500i, your chosen timbre is just a pre-selection away. one simple, “Less/More” button allows easy modification of a factory preset . Because of this, annoying “artifacts” can occur. The built-in stereo coder, AES/EBU digital inputs and outputs and analog I/O allows easy connection to any site. It does not matter here whether the Orban 5500i is in the studio or on site.
Finally, when the Orban 5500i is not in the studio, you will like the fact that there are three options for controlling the 5500i remotely. This can be done via GPI, RS232 and the TCP/IP. The serial and Ethernet ports are controlled through the included PC Remote Control application
